A weekend roundup of loveliness, tips and tricks, and good things seen, heard and found this week!
There was Lisa Loves, and then there was the Weekend Love List, and now it’s back to Lisa Loves because WLL is already in use! However, it’s the same series of lighthearted randomness for your weekend enjoyment!

SOME RECENT LOVELINESS….
@oakhousedesignco | Melanie at Oak House Design Co. has been DIYing her kitchen these last few months, including redesigning this wall on the right and making the end more substantial – it’s been so fun and inspiring to watch her vision unfold on IG. Check her out – and be sure to scroll down and see how she has already updated other rooms in her house!
Virtual artistry | Have you ever seen anything like this?? Kind of amazing right?
Weekend getaways | Summer in New England more than makes up for our verrrrry long and cold winters! When I was putting together the gallery wall in our kitchen I asked my family where their favorite vacations and places to visit were. Every single one of them had our summer weekends visiting friends at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire (top right) at the top of their lists! For local weekend getaways we also love visiting family on Cape Cod, and popping over to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard once in a while too. More on this gallery wall + sources for affordable framing and some other tips and tricks coming soon!
Bedding | We recently replaced our master bedroom mattresses after nineteen years. This pillow-top mattress enhancer definitely extended the life of our last one for a few years (it really made such a difference!) but after a good year of both of us waking up with sore backs we finally had to give in and get a new one. Our bedding is also eons old, and so I invested in this quilt and shams when they were last on sale. The quilt is such a great weight and quality – and the whole set is on sale again for 25% off and free shipping. Highly recommend! I think it’s time our bedroom had an entire makeover by the way – it’s definitely a contender for this fall’s One Room Challenge!
I also bought these 100% supima cotton extra deep sheets for our new mattress and they are soft but crisp, comfortable and never spring off the corners of the mattress! Even Mark approves and he really appreciates the feel of nice sheets.
Food hacks | Okay how about a fun informational video? Check out these easy peel food hacks. My kids and I tried the corn on the cob one last year and it worked pretty well. I’m intrigued by these others and want to try the pineapple and peach ones asap!
A project to do with your kids – grow an avocado tree from a pit. It’s a cool science experiment to watch the pit sprout over a few months, but it does take from 5-13 YEARS for that little sproutling to grow up into a tree that bears fruit (yes avocados are technically a fruit!)
While we’re on the subject of avocados, if you need your avocados to ripen up a little quicker, put them in a brown paper bag with a banana, apple or tomato overnight. The ethylene that those fruits give off will speed up the ripening process so you can make your favorite guacamole. I am a huge fan of the Barefoot Contessa’s guac recipe and make it all the time. Do you have a favorite go-to recipe?
A simple summer appetizer to try | The combination of sweet and savory flavors in this two-ingredient app from Rachael at This Is Our Bliss sounds so good! I’ve done something similar with plain cream cheese but am definitely upping the game and trying this cheese instead!
Beauty | If your summer skin could use a refresh, make a quick batch of a raw sugar scrub! I love these for dry winter skin, but they are also great if you’ve had too much sun and need to exfoliate!
July went by in a flash didn’t it? In case you missed them, here are posts from the past month:
