Today I thought I’d take a break from talking about house projects because I know many of you enjoy beauty and fashion posts on here once in a while! I was folding laundry this morning and realized that the majority of summer clothes that I wear are casual dresses and skirts. There are so many great mid-summer sales going on and I love this time of year for adding a few new things to my wardrobe that can be worn into the early fall.
I gravitate towards summer clothing that I can wear a regular, comfortable bra with (this is a huge factor for me!!!! Anyone else?), casual enough to sit at my computer in and easily dressed up a bit with cute shoes and big earrings for dinner out. I also love pieces that can transition to cool fall nights on the deck or at the fire pit with a denim jacket or sweater. Major bonus points for jersey knit material that rolls up easily for weekends away and resists wrinkling!
Here are a few of my faves this summer, all on sale or at great price points. Affiliate links are included in this post for your convenience. Read more about affiliate links here.
I love this dress so much. Light, flattering, and can be super casual with flip flops and a messy bun or dressed up with fun wedges and jewelry.
I have this jersey dress in black and in my regular size it is definitely “body con” as the listing notes – a good date night dress but I wouldn’t wear it to the grocery store 🙂
I ordered another one in the next size up for a more casual, everyday look (in this dark grey). It comes in a bunch of colors and is so great for layering.
This one comes in white also, but this color (“tawny spice”) is fun for summer and would transition well into September.
Lightweight and love the long sleeves for breezy mornings. They look cute rolled up too.
I have this same dress in red (no longer available) and wear it all through the summer. So comfortable and easy.
A v-neck is so face flattering and this one is not too low for everyday.
I have this dress in purple (it comes in a bunch of colors including navy, which I want) and it’s flattering and comfortable. I do find it to be too low cut for day or night so I wear a camisole with it.
This breezy and cute skirt comes in three colors.
I like this instead of shorts with a white t-shirt; casual and easy but still looks like you put a little effort into it.
This skirt is great in early summer with a white denim jacket into early fall with a chunky sweater for chilly nights!
Once in a while I do actually get out of jersey knit casual clothes! I wore the watercolor maxi dress that I shared on my Weekend Love List in May when Mark and I were in the Bahamas for his work trip and it was fun and a little different for vacation.
I bought this dress at the new TJMaxx online and it was super inexpensive – I was actually surprised at how cute it was when it arrived in the mail considering it was less than $30! It’s out of stock now but that site is a good little resource to check out if you’re looking for a few fun frocks or tops!
I don’t have a picture of myself in it but I also wore this satin maxi dress on our trip and Mark loved it – the blush color is so pretty. I definitely need an excuse to wear it again this summer. My straw clutch has seen a lot of action too this summer – love love love it! Best summer accessory!
Okay my dears that’s it for now. I hope you are enjoying summer so far!
