The rug is part of the “vision”. I got it for my birthday against my husband’s protests that he was NOT giving me a rug for my birthday. It’s exactly what I wanted – neutral, cushy, soft on bare feet, and makes the room so much more cozy. (And a great price for an 8×10 rug!) Thanks Honey!
That black chair on the board is representative of this beauty I got from my in-laws that now has a new coat of paint, and new cushions that I just picked up from the reupholsterer!!
The two big things I would like for this room “someday”:
1. A wraparound library wall. You might recognize this version of the Ikea Billy bookcase hack from Bliss At Home that is on the design board – I LOVE it! Kristin and her husband did such an amazing job – the library lights incorporated into the top of the design and the fact that the bookcases go the ceiling make them so custom looking. I am also considering hiring Sawdust Girl to walk me through the construction of bookcases, as Linda has done, but right now her queue is closed. One way or another, DIY built in bookcases will be part of this room!
2. A sectional. Even though this room is TV-less, if my husband Mark and I are sitting in here, the kids are drawn to this room like a moth to a flame. Everyone is always in there, which I love and want to encourage for lounging, reading, Scrabble, card games, chatting.
Casual, comfortable, yet pulled together enough for company – that is the goal.
Black, whites, natural elements and a touch of color – that is the plan!
This exercise of changing up the room, prompted by One Room, Three Ways, has actually made me excited about our living room again! Thank you to all the hosts for sharing your own rooms and ideas!

Lisa, Your room looks so amazing! I have been dreaming of a white sofa, too. In fact, your dream room would be my dream room. Thanks for the mention, Sandra was amazing to work with. I am not surprised she is booked solid. I need to build my bookcases this summer.

Amazing what a difference changing out a couple of things can make. I really like the brightness of the second look. I can't wait to see your pink chair transformed!! I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut in some rooms – maybe I just need to move things around a bit 🙂

How fun is this seeing your different combos ~ I'm loving how easy you can go from beachy summer with the white chairs to a warmer look for cooler weather. I can totally picture the wicker with warm fall colored pillows and throw. Can't wait to see that gorgeous chair in there!

I am in LOVE with that bookcase wall you featured! Been toying with the idea of doing that in my living room (remember that room I wanted to makeover in a million years?? Yeah. That one. ;).
I just love your living space– so fresh and inviting!
