In January Linda busted out the Project Procrastination Pinterest board, and invited all the world to post a picture of a project yet finished, and git.er.done.
I posted the 356 projects around my house that I have started but then ran out of time/interest/imagination to finish. It’s been slow going knocking items off that list! But my dears I am happy to tell you that this poor little table, my first Craigslist purchase that came home to me in a coat of ugly brown paint, is all spiffed up and has a new lease on life.
Before: flat brown paint was not doing this cutie any favors.
I stripped, sanded, stained –
-with the high hopes of giving her a two-toned look much like my coffee table.
After playing with stain combinations (Jacobean+Ebony, Ebony+ Mahogany, Dark Walnut+Jacobean, and so on, and so on) I was not loving the color, and realized I did not need one more speck of brown in my living room, so the answer was clear: black, of course!
Apparently I have a small obsession with black. She went the way of the foyer stairs and bannister, the doors, the wicker bureau from the nursery-turned foyer table, and I love, love, love her in it!
Do you hate me for choosing such a safe color?
The little brass claw feet were beyond having an aged patina, they were just looking dirty and forlorn, so a little Rub n Buff came to the rescue to highlight the details.
To get into all the nooks and crannies of the claw foot without making it solid gold, I cut the bristles of a kid’s paintbrush short so they would be stiff, put a little R&B onto the brush, then applied it to the lines and details.
And there we have it…..a little black beauty to class up the living room.
And why yes, that is a new something something on the floor! I’ll tell you more about it soon – it’s part of my crazy master plan for this room. Slowly but surely, people.
Have you finished up an projects on your procrastination list lately? Do share!
Feels good to get stuff done. Thanks for the motivation, Linda!

I think it's great! I hear ya about too much brown. That's been my problem with our living room for a long time. Trying to fix it though… and you are right that it happens slowly and surely.

Table looks really smart Lisa! And don't talk to me about procrastination, as I have perfected the art form in the garden/yard…. I have just done my 7th hour of weeding, and just because I didn't start it earlier – they are bigger, stronger, and with dig-their-heels in roots now! Ah well, serves me right.
