Room Makeover | My friend Carli at Made By Carli revealed the master bedroom in her 140 year old home and it came out beautifully I love how Carli works with all the interesting character of her house like her sloped walls! Check out this gorgeous bedroom reveal here and find Carli’s inspiring Instagram here.
The itch to paint | I’ve been toying with changing up our master bedroom and seeing Carli’s pretty new space as well as coming across this picture in the Ballard Designs catalog, have the wheels turning in a big way. The stain on the maple dresser and bureau that we bought two decades ago has turned a lovely orangey color through the years and I’d love to give them a major makeover! Our bedroom room is definitely a contender for this fall’s One Room Challenge if I can get my butt in gear!
I also mentioned on Instagram and Facebook this week that I have been imagining our living room bookcases in a deep blue or green – what’s your vote?? Do you follow Shine D&D on social media? I would love to connect with you there!
A touching video and story | Carpool karaoke is the unexpected silver lining for this father-son duo when Alzheimers creeps into their lives. I bought the Songaminute Man book after watching a few of the videos and look forward to reading it. Several of my aunts and uncles have had memory loss and Alzheimers, and one very dear aunt in particular had very little short term memory or ability to make conversation, but could sing entire songs from her childhood – truly a joy amidst the sadness of losing someone to this disease.
Look alike spindle chairs | We love our little seating area in the kitchen, but the Ikea chairs that are there have paid their dues and are not all that comfortable anymore so I’ve been searching for months for two petite chairs for this spot. PB’s spindle chair has long been a favorite of mine, so imagine my delight at finding what looks to be the EXACT same chair (probably manufactured by the same company and sold to various vendors) for $109 less + free shipping! Both version have white frames and white twill-covered cushions. Pottery Barn has a ton of fabric options including Sunbrella, but for that cost difference and I might go with the less expensive ones and have slipcovers made. Face oil I’m addicted to | If there was only one thing I could use on my skin every day, this would be it! A few months back I mentioned that I tried a few Colleen Rothschild skincare products and got completely hooked. I bought the Discovery Collection, which is a bag filled with 7 sample-sized products, to try out the line after hearing a lot of great things about this brand, and one of the items was a tiny vile of No. 9 oil. It’s seriously the best oil that I have ever used – really lightweight, does NOT make my skin oily, and just one tiny drop applied to my face after showering makes it feel silky smooth and hydrated. I invested in the big bottle for my birthday when it was on sale, and now that they are offering 25% off again I thought it was worth mentioning – it’s so expensive, but I’m obsessed with it!
Dream dorm room | Check out this crazy awesome dorm room with all Homegoods finds by Meme Hill Studio‘s Amie! I met Amie at a blog conference last year and she is a total sweetheart, genuine, kind, funny and an enthusiastic friend who lifts up other bloggers, in addition to being a talented artist and interior designer.
