Upcycled Projects For Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

I’ll admit it, I’m kind of crunchy granola deep down inside. I live for recycling and have been known to sneak recyclable items out of friends’ trash bins to take home with me and put in my recycle bin. I love love love upcycling projects, there is just something so satisfying about finding a new way to use something rather than throw it out. So in honor of our beautiful Earth I thought I’d revisit a few small and large upcycling projects from over the years here on Shine Your Light!

 

The TV armoire that was repurposed into an office, and then repurposed into a bar cabinet is my all time favorite! The shelves inside the bar cabinet that hold glasses are constructed out of an old ping-pong table that broke. I couldn’t bear to throw the particle board in a landfill so I hoarded it in my garage until I found a way to reuse some of it!Bar Armoire Shine Your Light

 

My wine cork herb markers have remained my most re-pinned and shared project in six years of blogging,basil pesto

and if you want to use up your entire cork collection on an upcycling project make a tray out of them!!

My brother gave me this little garden stool when he moved out of state, and since it had a really sturdy frame I upcycled it into a vanity table stool with a remnant of pretty Kravet fabric.A plant stand is repurposed as a vanity stool.

 

When I painted our kitchen cabinets I took a few of the doors off for a little open shelving action, and the cabinet doors were easily upcycled into picture frames.Cabinet doors repurposed as frames
