I find myself in the midst of a very quick little blue and white bathroom refresh over here, and thought you might enjoy seeing the plan come together!
This impromptu mini-makeover came about when I was folding all of Hannah’s brand new, freshly laundered bedding and towels for her dorm room, and Mark and I realized our college kids have nicer stuff than we do! What the heck?! Specifically needing an upgrade – our bath towels that are EONS old, and our shower curtain that has been around since Hannah was a newborn (the beauty of white linens – they can be bleached over and over again for years until they are literally falling apart!)
Our master bath is basically fine, but is also tiny, lacking storage space, and has almond colored fixtures (a fiberglass shower stall and vanity/sink) which are not my favorite. That being said, the master bath is so far down on the list of projects that we need to tackle that I don’t even bother daydreaming about what I would do when we eventually gut it (okay maybe a little dreaming about marble tile and not having to shimmy around Mark when we are both brushing our teeth!) It’s time will come, but for now I’m just trying to work with it and make this room a little more functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Turkish Cotton Towels • Hand Towel • Toothbrush Holder • Tissue Box • Chenille Lattice Shower Curtain • Palm Print • Cool Mist Diffuser • Rug
After shopping ’til I dropped with Hannah this past month, I took advantage of these last few days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that has free shipping and returns and shopped this entire room online!
Turkish Cotton Towels – we have hard water at our current abode and it’s impossible to keep white towels white!! Other linens bleach really well, but over time our white towels just get dingy and grey no matter what I do (I’ve tried every trick in the book!) SO – I’m giving up the fight and going with indigo towels this time. I’m not ashamed to say that Mark and I are pretty fired up to have new towels.
Hand (and Face) Towel – have you tried these before? It’s kind of a weird thing to splurge on, but I love it for drying my face!! It’s soft and absorbent and the navy side doesn’t show mascara, you know, for those lazy people who don’t use eye makeup remover every day 🙂
Chelsea Victoria Beverly Hills Palm Art Print – I’m so excited about this part!!!!! Our bathroom is so incredibly BLAH in all it’s almond glory; I’d love to bring a plant in somewhere to give it a little life but there is no room anywhere, so a plant PRINT is the next best thing! I am a huge fan of blue and white with GREEN, and y’all know I love a beachy vibe. Are you digging it?
I ordered the 18×24 size print and am going to mount it in a white Ribba frame in the 24×35 size (why are the Ikea frame sizes so weird??)
Speaking of Ikea, I’m a big fan of this bath mat. I threw a couple of them in my cart when I was in the check out line one day and they’re great – two thumbs up.
Cool Mist Diffuser – Diffusers are finally getting a little easier on the eyes – I’m not a fan of the utilitarian ones that look like a small appliances and yet I am totally addicted to diffusing essential oils. Diffuse in the bathroom when you are doing your makeup, painting your nails, doing a facial mask, etc. If I had a bathtub in here I would 100% diffuse something calming like lavender while I took a bath and read a book! I actually got this one for Hannah’s dorm room where it will likely be stuffy come the winter.
Dash & Albert Indoor/Outdoor Rug – if you’re trying to make your outdated bathroom a little less hideous try a real rug. An indoor/outdoor one is great for a bathroom since it can rally against moisture. You can never go wrong with Dash & Albert rugs!
That’s about it for this quick little makeover – I’ll update you when I put it all together!
Here are a few more of my favorite things from the Nordstrom sale, it ends this Sunday!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead my lovelies. Thanks for stopping by!

I love what you have picked out. And, we love those IKEA bath mats.

Thanks Lauren. Aren’t those bath mats the best? They dry so fast when my kids leave the bathroom sopping wet!

I love your plan, Lisa! I know what you mean about those white towels. Ours are white and some of them look kind of dingy. Our whole bathroom is actually looking dingy these days but I don’t know if I can convince my husband to do a full renovation. Your refresh ideas are inspiring though – especially since I am such a huge fan of navy! Looking forward to seeing your updates!

We are eventually going to gut our bathrooms but it’s definitely not a priority as we have 2 kids in college this year….so a little refresh will do the trick! Hope you’re enjoying these last weeks of summer, Shelley!

Puhleeeease show us some after pics! And thank you for sharing – I think you just solved my own, very similar bathroom problem. We moved 6 months ago and are broke for house stuff after renovating the main living spaces. Both bathrooms feature various 80’s wallpaper, almond tubs, and orange maple vanities with cream cultured marble tops. I bought cream towels (I was so sick of the gray ones from our last house) but they’re bland, and they don’t stand up well to my hubby who has hobbies that result in him wearing machine grease and small bleeding scratches… which is why we had gray towels for the last 7 years! I kind of forgot. Or hoped he’d come in cleaner with our new garage setup here.
Anyway, I too love blue and green together, was vaguely thinking of painting our vanity dark blue and can’t think why I didn’t imagine that for our towels! It’s totally happening.

Julie I painted one of our bathroom vanities navy and love it. Navy towels are great for hard water too, they don’t show dinginess for a long time.
