One Room Challenge WK5:: The Mighty Storm

It’s the very last week of the One Room Challenge!
How are you doing, my fellow ORC warriors??
My son Peter, for whom my makeover room is for, along with his teammates, has had a wild ride of a football season culminating this Saturday with a huge playoff game against their arch rival.
He’s persevering through a mighty storm of rain and pain and losses and simultaneously 
his mother is persevering through 
staining mishaps and budget constraints and inability to make decisions!!!!!

He on the football field, me on the DIY and interior design front??

Okay friends, honestly it has NOT been been a very productive week and there is a lot to accomplish in the next seven days.
The floating desk vision I had is about 90% done…..still needs trim and touch ups.
I hung it with metal shelf brackets that echo the L-brackets I used for the picture ledge (and then I also added a wood brace for additional support).

 Peter did a little decorating of his own – loving how this bat works with the room scheme…..
…..and then there’s this *interesting* tie display. Hmmmm…………??????????????

A very exciting development was finding a masculine fabric I love that didn’t feel too stark or girly, or in colors that represent teams Peter despises, etc. etc. etc. It’s been a challenge to say the least! The room really needs some textiles to soften up the black and wood, and I was looking for something kind of  preppy for this black room that is going a little more Ralph Lauren than goth. Fun plans for this to make a bit of a statement in the room!

So where do I stand? With a lot left to do. The dresser, headboard, bedding, lighting and big mystery art all need to happen in the next week. I’m excited to bring it all together and for the vision to come to life between now and next Thursday!!!!!!!

Time to
