May is the craziest month in our house – three birthdays, our anniversary and this year all of Hannah’s end of senior year festivities and graduation – never mind the kids’ sports, work and this little itty bitty thing called the One Room Challenge! Phew, I’m tired just thinking about it all! We did a quick calendar review yesterday and I almost forgot amidst this nutty month that Mother’s Day is also this coming weekend!
In my survey in January many of you said you love occasional gift guides and product recommendations throughout the year (particularly beauty product recommendations!) While we all know that what all moms would love the most is our time, love and attention, a thoughtful gift doesn’t hurt either. Here are a few suggestions for the favorite moms in your life (or for you!!)
Sunglasses
I love Maui Jims! They are definitely a splurge but such a nice gift for your chic momma! Pool your $$$ with your siblings because you know she’ll never buy them for herself 🙂
Make sure you buy sunglasses from a trusted source because knock off sunglasses being sold as the real deal are aplenty on the internet! Sunglass Hut is always a safe bet and has free 2 day shipping (perfect in this time crunch before Mother’s Day).
Super flexible and rimless. I have these and love them – they are so lightweight!
These classic aviators are sooooo nice. My brother left his gold rimmed MJ aviators in my car so I had the pleasure of wearing them for a month or so until I saw him again, and I was super sad to give them back (for the record he tried to get me to keep them because he’s sweet like that!)
They come in pink too!
Summer Bag
You don’t have to spend major bank on your mom to show her the love! This metallic straw bag is perfect for running errands in the summer.
I like the blush pink version too!
Filigree Earrings
I know – World Market is not the first place you think of for jewelry – but they actually have some really cute things that are not expensive. I absolutely love these filigree earrings (less than $10) because they are SO lightweight, highlight the face, and are super fun for a night out.
Soludos Espadrilles
Every single time I wear these shoes someone either asks me where I got them or tells me they’re cute. They are great with shorts, skirts and sundresses as well as ankle length pants.
They are so comfortable – I wore them the entire day that we moved Peter into his dorm and walked all over the campus last summer (and I often tie them in the back by the way).
This photo above also brings me to………
Kimonos/Ruanas/Wraps
Let’s talk kimonos. Are you a fan? I love them, especially ones that are just longer than the butt, aren’t shiny and don’t look like bathrobes 🙂 They are great for layering and look so cute with skinny jeans and a tee.
A few of my current faves……
Clarabella Floral Kimono – Anthropologie
Adelaide Kimono – Anthropologie
Ruanas are the South American version of kimonos – basically an open front poncho or wrap with arm holes. Like kimonos they are great for layering; perfect for summer evenings by the fire pit!
Stonewashed Lightweight Ruana – Nordstrom Rack
Quick Dry Top Coat
I’ve mentioned this Essie top coat before – Hannah and I both use this all the time and love it! It completely dries nail polish in minutes and gives it a glossy finish.
Pair it with a pretty summer color for mom like Guchi Muchi Puchi.
Work Out Leggings
I like Zella leggings because they have great stretch but you don’t need to keep pulling them up while you’re working out (I especially love the high waist ones for that reason!) They are half the price of Lulu Lemons which I also adore but are super spendy and rarely go on sale.
Kristy Woodson Harvey’s Latest Book
The Secret To Southern Charm is the the second in the Peachtree Bluff series after Slightly South Of Simple (that was on my Mother’s Day gift guide last year!) by Kristy, who also blogs at Design Chic with her mom, Beth.
For more ideas check out last year’s Mother’s Day gift guide that I updated for this year!
Lots of places are offering quick shipping before Mother’s Day so if you shop today you’ll be sure to have it in time for Sunday. I hope this list gives you a few ideas for the moms you are blessed to have in your life!
I’m finishing up some of the last details of the family room, and will be back on Thursday with the final reveal. I’m so excited to put away the tools and paint cans and call this room finished!
Hope you have a week ahead!
