For each new morning with it’s light, for rest and shelter of the night, for health and food,
for love and friends, for everything Thy goodness sends.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today I’m so happy to be joining some lovely and creative ladies to share some
Thanksgiving table inspirations with you.
Welcome to Thanksgiving Shine Your Light style!
I love to set a pretty table and mix it up with what I have and what I can find in my yard.
This year I came across a wool wrap I wore to an outdoor fall wedding years ago. I have thrown it on the back of the couch for a little holiday color before, but this year I thought I’d use it on the table and bring in some blue. I figure what is the point in having pretty things if they sit in a drawer year after year and never get used? I’ll just hand wash the wrap after Thanksgiving and not worry too much about it.
My napkins and blue water glasses are cheapies I bought at The Christmas Tree Shoppe last year and I think they coexist perfectly with my finer things like the crystal.
I threw the wrap on the diagonal so that the table could peek out.
The adjoining living room incorporates the color scheme with a few simple touches….books pulled off the shelves, and some bright and festive pillows.
After having a house full last Thanksgiving, this year we are hosting a small gathering so I had room for some pretty touches. I made place card menus, each with a different Thanksgiving quote on them that we’ll read at the table (usually I like to torture everyone with going around the room and saying what we’re thankful for, so this time they’re getting off easy!!)
When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive –
to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
-Marcus Aurelius
It isn’t so much what’s on the table that matters, as who is on the chairs.
-WS Gilbert
Candlelight is a must, day or night!
Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast.
-Shakespeare
If you’re working on your Thanksgiving menu,
I highly recommend butternut squash and pear soup (the pear can be substituted with apple) with creme fraiche on top, and the twice baked potato casserole that I posted about last Thanksgiving (that’s my kids’ favorite!!!)
Thank you for the food before us, the family beside us and the love between us.

Lisa, what a stunning and touching Thanksgiving tablescape! You had me at Ralph Waldo Emerson and William Shakespeare quotes for the place settings! I love how you mix high and low home décor items from around your home to complete this chic look. I agree, candle light is a must! The menu sounds mouthwatering! I will have to get the pear soup recipe! So much to be thankful for and this Thanksgiving tablescape has it all! XOXO, Sarah http://www.sarahsofiaproductions.com
