Hiya friends, how was your weekend?
Hannah and I went to Portsmouth, NH for a mom/daughter overnight with the girls she has been with in Girl Scouts with since kindergarten. As they head off to high school next year they are moving on to other things, so we decided to have one last hurrah. Such a great group of smart, confident, kind and funnnnny girls! They hammed it up for my camera all weekend.
We had a little mama/daughter photo shoot after a day at the beach…..
…..and then headed out to dinner in downtown Portsmouth.
The New Hampshire coast is tiny and Portsmouth is right on the edge of Maine (our day at the beach was actually spent in York, Maine, another beautiful area that I’ll be sure to write about soon). Portsmouth is such a gem of a city, filled with cute shops and restaurants to discover. I wrote about some other restaurants I visited with my high school girlfriends here. I highly recommend a visit to this area if you are in Massachusetts or New Hampshire this summer.
Onto my project!
Remember this little number??
I bought the table off of Craigslist last fall, gave it a makeover and was really looking forward to using it on our deck this summer. For the rest of the year it was in a corner of our living room, but after I built the bookcases and moved the big ol’ bessy of a bar cabinet, there was no room at the inn for the poor bar cart.
So…..I sold it on my Facebook yard sale.
🙁
Then I happened upon a real live yard sale that was just packing up at the end of the day, and scored this little cutie:
It’s much smaller than the last cart, but that means it will be easier to store in the winter. I bought it with the intention of using it as a bar/beverage cart outside, but Mark has his eye on it for a little table next to the grille, to put platters and burgers and stuff on while we’re cooking out there. It’s solid wood and I think all it needs is a coat of something to seal it and make it fabulous.
I could stain it to match the teak, or paint it. Hmmmmmmmm.
I’m mulling over my options, stay tuned!
Quick Tip Tuesday tomorrow, and don’t forget to link up your favorite project from the month of June to Best of the Nest here! Party ends tomorrow night!
Happy day, lovelies!

Glad you had fun with your daughter Lisa, that's the kind of bonding I'm looking forward to with my own, although it'll be years from now still! I would stain your cute table to match your set, but then again, painting it your accent color would be equally fun, will wait and see what you decide on!

Someday I'll tour the
lovely East Coast and
all the sweet towns
like Portsmouth by
the sea! Until then,
I love seeing it through
your lens, and of course
soaking up all of your
talents, both behind
the camera and with
paintbrush/tool box
in hand!

What a fun trip and beautiful pic of you two together! Your changing table to bar cart was one of my favorite makeovers, I can't believe you sold it, I'd vote for another black one too!

I can't believe you sold it! Love the look ~ and wish I had it. 🙂 Maybe paint the newbie black too?
I love that area of the East Coast! Did you notice all the beautiful flowers everywhere? By this time in Texas, flowers are struggling to survive. The photo of you and your daughter is great!
My computer has been out so I'm glad to be able to visit blogland again.

Portsmouth is so pretty! I'm glad you had fun with your cute daughter. I love your cart you sold and that you found a new one to replace it! Your deck and furnishings look so relaxing. Oh, I'm dreaming of patio furniture!

I bet that your old bar cart sold within minutes – it was so cute! I feel your pain about the storage issue though – we've got almost zero storage at our house so it really limits my seasonal purchases. The new cart is a cutie – looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
