It almost defeated me, but thanks to all your cheerleading,
and some Irish determination…..
I made it to
GAME DAY!!
•STATS•
THE HOST
the wonderful Linda of Calling It Home
THE OBJECTIVE
to transform a room in 6 weeks
THE PLAYING FIELD
my 17 year old son’s insanely disorganized room
THE PLAYER
my favorite firstborn
THE GAMEPLAN
make this room a lot more functional and
vastly improve the awesome factor
A super fun BEFORE photo that was actually taken a couple years ago.
The Player has gotten a lot tidier but the contents and decor of the room where the same.
AND HERE WE ARE – THE FINAL SCORE!
The Moody Masculine Mighty Teen Room Reveal
I’M SO GLAD THIS SEASON IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!
POST GAME WRAP UP
Here’s what went down in my One Room Challenge.
Found $100 cash and $40 on gift cards amidst the disaster area.
Cleaned out 5 years worth of schoolwork and outgrown clothes.
Sold Peter’s existing bookcase and dresser (both the wrong scale for this room).
Then the fun began!
Painted the 3 non-chalkboard walls black.
Painted a dresser with a Homeright sprayer.
Built/stained/installed a metal and wood bookshelf (an Ikea hack), a desk and a 3 wall picture ledge.
Added storage in the form of the metal trunk, the bookcase and closet storage.
Rebuilt & upholstered a headboard.
Bought new bedding (still waiting on the ticking stripe duvet!)
Brought in lots of lighting – two sconces over the bed, a desk lamp and two lamps on the dresser.
Added hooks for towels and baseball hats.
Wall mounted snowboard and bats.
Installed bamboo roman shades.
Created Friday Night Lights chalkboard quote art.
and Peter’s favorite part….
Blew up a photo of Peter with his football co-captains and made block art with it.
Thank you to Linda at Calling It Home for creating and hosting the One Room Challenge!
It is the best motivation to get a room done from start to finish.
More on all these projects coming soon……for now enjoy seeing all the amazing rooms that have been finished through this crazy fun whirlwind 6 weeks! GO TEAM!

Love this room! Black for the whole room was a bold choice, and it looks so great, especially with the bright, bold block art (love that idea!) Love the plaid headboard, too. I did a boys room, too (for much littler boys), and I also almost didn't make it. But aren't you glad it's finished? 🙂
