Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
It’s hard to believe that it’s the grande finale for 2015!
As the year draws to a close,
I love taking a look back at some of the fun we’ve had as a family,
the progress we’ve made on our little diamond in the rough of an abode,
and the projects that have been popular here in my corner of the blogosphere!
The Quick Tip Tuesday series is always fun and worthy of an honorable mention!
Here are a few of the most popular tips from the past year………
HOW TO FIX SPRAY PAINT CRACKING
HOW TO PREVENT A POT FROM BOILING OVER
HOW TO PAINT BASEBOARDS OR DOOR TRIM IN A CARPETED ROOM
How to retouch, reproduce and frame old photos
(a few tips from my framing days).
(This is my grandfather looking quite dapper somewhere around 1910.)
How to make ready made curtains look a little more custom by faux-lining them and
before
after
This fall I kicked off a new weekly series featuring favorite corners of home from all around
the blogosphere and Instagram and was honored to feature some amazing homes………
1/ Domestic Charm 2/ Julia Ryan 3/ Cortini Designs 4/ The Painted Chandelier
5/ The Uptown Acorn 6/ Miss Dixie 7/ The Daily Nest
Shine Home Love is starting 2016 with a bang this coming Monday
with the fabulous and fun Paige Minear of The Pink Clutch!
We love our Ikea hack antique gold wall lights so much I hacked them again for Hannah’s room,
this time making shades made from metal planters.
Pam, Kris, Jennifer and I decided it was time to mix things up and last year’s Best Of The Nest party became
My 5 Favorites,
featuring different themes each month.
Here are some quick and easy holiday decorating ideas to file away for next year!
(come join us next Tuesday for our next My 5 Favorites!)
One of my most pinned projects in almost six years of blogging: how to make your own cornice board, and an easy way to hang it.
This year I starting taking on more client projects, and that has been tons of fun! I am so excited about some client work that is on the horizon for 2016, including having custom drapes and roman shades installed, a fireplace makeover, and freshening up some spaces with new lighting, rugs and artwork.
Coming up in the new year,
I’ll be sharing the reveal of the biggest DIY I took on in 2015 –
the makeover of our fireplace!!!
I finished all the trim work and installed a new hearth since this photo was taken a few weeks ago.
Despite the daunting task of styling more bookshelves (still working on that!),
we love how the fireplace came out and I can’t wait to share it with you!!
Thank you
so very much for stopping by Shine Your Light.
I love writing about DIY and decorating adventures but mostly I love connecting with you!
Wishing you health, love and
lots of happiness in the coming year!
