Today let's chat about open shelving in a kitchen - are you a fan, or no?
I LOVE open shelving in the kitchen, and have had it in two of our houses over the years.
This built-in hutch, behind me in one of our previous houses, was a great beverage center when entertaining (I previously shared this photo in a post all about kitchen beverage centers, read about them here) and I used the shelves for displaying dishes and decorating for the holidays and seasons. (This is my Jennifer Anniston-Friends haircut circa 2003ish by the way.)
In our current kitchen, I took the doors off this little area and LOVE having open storage for our glassware, right next to the fridge. (All the wine glasses and barware now live on our bar cart.)
In our kitchen remodel I'll definitely have open shelving, to break up all the cabinetry. I like the idea of the open shelving being FUNCTIONAL and not just for display and think stacks of plates and platters, pretty glasses or a shelf of cookbooks can be beautiful as well as serving a purpose.
What say you - yay or nay to open shelving in the kitchen?
Can you believe it's already Friday? I don't know where the weeks go. It's getting nippy around here, so I'll be pulling out all the snow gear for my sons' football games this weekend. Hope you have a wonderful weekend full of relaxation and fall fun!
Thanks for visiting!
