Inspirations Files:: Black Interior Doors

So, apparently you guys have opinions?
Wow, do I LOVE having all of you to bounce ideas off of!!

THANK YOU
for all the wonderful feedback on whether or not to paint my interior doors black!
I LOVE the look but have waffled on whether it's right for my house.

The overwhelming concensus was
a definite YES to the inside of the front door!
and a maybe to the rest of the doors.
You will just have to wait and see which direction I am going in….I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat :)

There's no doubt about it -
black interior doors will certainly set your house apart from your neighbor's (and I live in a cookie cutter house that is e.x.a.c.t.l.y. like about 50 million other colonials in New England.
hint hint.)

How about some lovely examples of homes featuring black interior doors to whet your appetite?

Well of course there's Jennifer's beautiful home at Dimples and Tangles - just look at the impact of the before and after…

Carmel's gorgeous family room doors at Our Fifth House:

A stunning family room addition by Amy of Playing Sublimely.  {If you haven't visited this blog before, wait until you see the renovations Amy and her talented husband have made to their home.  Don't miss the butler's pantry!}

This transformed space at Curious Details blows me away!

The texture of the brick, naturals from the wood and rug, breezy white curtains, fresh green plant, pop of color, sweet and soft pup, and the pop of black from the doors.  Whoever styled this photo is a genius….I'm sucked right into feeling that warm breeze on my face while I read a book in this spot!

I love the contrast of the light walls, white trim, and BANG - big pop of black.  A teensy bit more sophisticated than my life, yes?

This is a house on Cape Cod - I've had this photo in my design files for years!

Check out that molding…..the windows around the door…the floors…..wowza!  Looks JUST like my foyer, don't you think?  :)

And last but not least - one of my all time favorites:

Food for thought, my friends, food for thought.

Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing weekend ahead!

You're not lacking in the inspiration department. They're all gorgeous. High contrast certainly makes a huge statement and sets you a part from your neighbors. Better watch out, you may be starting something!

The high contrast is so sticking! Would you be able to stop at one door? I know I wouldn't!

No! You're going to make me think I need to do this too! Those pics are too beautiful.

THanks for the shout out girlie! I think you just proved that black interior doors work with any style! Such a classic look in my opinion. ;)

I LOVE black doors. My front door is black on the outside but white on the inside. I have thought about painting it black many times, but like you I have other doors in the foyer that are white. I was scared of the commitment. I can't wait to see how yours turn out!

Oh, so pretty! I love the punch of black in a otherwise neutral interior. I see a lot of black paint under your fingernails in the future! :)

Oh I want to paint some interior door black somewhere...anywhere. I thinkI will start with my back door so it will pop at the end of the hall. Thanks for the inspiration.

I think you should go for it. It's just paint!!! My last home was a colonial. I redid my stairs with the Black and had a paint brush literally in hand ready to paint some interior French doors black when my husband called to tell me we were moving. I painted te doors white. It's going to be gorgeous in your home. My vote is a million yesses!!!

Good decision! I painted the inside of our front door black and it has made such an impact. It is such an elegant look.
