Making a Case for the Traditional Rug

Thank you to everyone who weighed in on my living room yesterday.  Doing the neutral thing with this house is a thousand times harder than I thought it was going to be, and I feel like I've lost my decorating mojo these days.  Since we spend a lot of time in this room, I need to make some decisions and be done with it!!  (for 2012 anyway)

So, to keep the rug or give it the boot?  That is the big question.

I think I'm out of love with the traditional decor I had going on in my last house, but these room could make me reconsider!  Traditional with a fresh twist - what do you think?

It would have been a lot easier to make decisions for my house if Pinterest didn't exist - there are too many beautiful photos to sway me one way or another!!

Wishing you a wonderful first official weekend of Autumn - stay away from that troublemaking Pinterest, relax and enjoy!

I like traditional rugs because they will last forever. You usually won't look back and say "look at this overly trendy thing I thought was awesome" if you have classic elements.

(and yes, that's Sarah Richardson's design in that photo. Love her ability to mix patterns. Classic and modern all together)

I also love traditional rugs - I don't think you can go wrong with a classic! I especially love the last photo you posted with the white sofas, pops of orange, and the beautiful rug! Have a great weekend Lisa!

I'd keep it, in fact I'm looking for a rug like it, I think it gives the room character! I new one would be nice too:)

I do like traditional rugs, but I also like contemporary as well. I still say that if you don't love it get rid of it. Sell it or maybe store it. You may fall in love with it again later or maybe in another room.

Oh, Lisa I love Pinterest so much that I can't even go to bed without checking really quick.
Always wondering what I am missing.

I love the rug you are considering to give the boot.
Wish I lived closer, I would have taken it gladly off of your hands.

Well, my dear...
I can't really really help you I love Neutrals a lot a lot.
So I would be very biased.
I also experience it as being a little hard at times to decorate only with neutrals. But it always looks so fresh and clean.

Have a gorgeous weekend...
Wether it is neutral or not.

Love
S.

Traditional with a twist is right up my alley! I just switched out my pillows for fall...with some more contemporary fabrics. Your rug would look great in my living room now! Fun post.

I agree - Pinterest is trouble! I think the rug looks great in there and I like the idea of mixing traditional with other styles.
Enjoy the weekend!
