Summer Before and After Parties!

Hi my friends, and welcome to the kickoff of the Summer Before & After!  The whole idea behind these parties is that you get motivated to get something done.  You are invited to link up or share in comments any kind of project or idea that you want to accomplish – a home improvement or personal goal that you want to make happen {the BEFORE}.  You can link up to this party anytime in the month of June, and then come back at the end of the summer to share how you made out with your goal {mark your calendars now – the AFTER party will be held on Friday, August 24!!}

My main goal this summer:
Memory Making and Keeping

I do have a few home improvement projects in mind for the next few months, but the really big thing I want to accomplish is having a great summer with my family.  I’m a broken record about this topic, but I see the years going by so fast.  We only have 5 more summers with my oldest son before he graduates from high school!!  FIVE.  I want to soak it all in, and make the most of what we have.   Who says we can’t figure out ways to have a fun summer just because we happen to be on a shoestring budget??

A little planning and creativity can go a long way and I intend to put a little thought into our summertime activities so each day there is a little something fun to do, even it’s an art and craft project that takes all of 30 minutes.

Each summer since my kids were preschoolers I made a huge calendar of the summer months with all their camps, trips we had planned, birthday parties, etc.  It was a great way for them to see what we were up to that week and what we had to look forward to, and they loved crossing off each day of the summer with a big red X.  This summer I made a big list to check off and hung it in our garage stairwell so we can see it all the time.  Do you do this too??

Not only do I hope to accomplish most of these fun activities, I also want to take a lot of photos (of my KIDS – vs. curtains/stepping stone paths/food!) with my new camera (and maybe even finally learn how to use it’s manual settings properly???).

I’m a big picture person, and with that comes the need to organize photos, both physically and on the computer, so I’ll be sharing some ideas on that topic here over the next few months.

What’s your plan for the summer?  Do you have any projects you want to tackle?  Link up as many as you would like, and if you don’t blog, feel free to share your summer plans in the comments section – I’d love to hear your big ideas!!
